The 2010 U.S. Census recorded 87,370 black Americans with Richardson as their last name. That represented 34% of the total of 259,798 entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This article compares census numbers before and after the Civil War. We also look at historic African American people named Richardson in the last three centuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We end with a review of early records of black military service in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
