The 2010 U.S. Census recorded 105,091 black Americans with Day as their last name. That represented 10% of the total of 10,971 entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This article tracks their numbers in the census since the Civil War. We also look at historic African American people named Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We end with a review of early records of black military service in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
